As an (in-house)  Recruiter based in our international team, you will contribute directly to our mission to combat cancer and develop treatments for unmet medical needs. Your Role:

In this comprehensive role, you will manage the entire recruitment cycle, ensuring the attraction and hiring of qualified professionals primarily for our site in the Netherlands (Utrecht). You will also work closely with our  Talent Acquisition Manager in the USA, ensuring a cohesive recruitment strategy across both locations.  


You will: 

  • Develop and implement strategic recruitment initiatives to source candidates through various channels, including Linkedin/social media, professional networks, job fairs, and direct outreach. 
  • Conduct thorough screenings and interviews, ensuring candidates align with Merus’s values and skill requirements. 
  • Collaborate closely with hiring managers and the Talent Acquisition Manager in the USA to understand their hiring needs and support them throughout the recruitment process. 
  • Manage relationships with recruitment agencies, negotiate terms, and maintain a list of preferred suppliers to streamline recruitment efforts. 
  • Oversee the recruitment advertising strategy, ensuring job vacancies are effectively communicated through various platforms. 
  • Maintain and utilize our applicant tracking system to ensure efficient candidate management and communication throughout the hiring process. 
  • Keep track of our recruitment Dashboard and recruitment metrics such as time to hire and time to fill to continuously improve our processes. 

Your Profile:

We are looking for a proactive and experienced recruiter with a strong background in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry. Your ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a dynamic environment will be key to your success. 


We are looking for a candidate with: 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; an advanced degree is preferred. 
  • At least 5 years of experience in full-cycle recruitment (Europe), with a strong focus on roles within Life Sciences. 
  • Experience with employer branding activities and a proven track record of innovative recruiting strategies. 
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with fluency in both Dutch and English. 
  • A strong networker with exceptional interpersonal skills to engage with candidates and stakeholders at all levels. 
  • A motivated, detail-oriented individual who thrives in both team settings and independently.

    Our Hiring Process

    Stage 1:

    Internal Review

    This means that we’ve received your application and are in the process of reviewing it.

    Stage 2:

    Initial Call

    We’ll set up a 15-minute phone call with our Internal Recruiter to discuss the details of this job opportunity and your own expectations of the role, as well as Merus as a company.

    Stage 3:

    1st Interview Phase

    During the 1st interview phase, we’ll set up an interview with your potential future manager. We’ll be looking to understand more about your experience, how that fits the role, and what makes you tick.

    Stage 4:

    2nd Interview Phase

    If things are still looking good, we’ll set up several short interviews with team members, peers, Management Team members (where relevant) and HR to make sure we are a good cultural fit. We do our best to plan these interviews on the same day, although on rare occasions they’ll take place on multiple days.

    Stage 5:

    Job Offer

    After positive evaluation from both sides, you will receive our job offer. Once you’ve accepted it, we will draw up the necessary paperwork. You will receive your contract within 3-5 working days and your onboarding process will start!
